Pincushion B&B -- 9 K

Come summer, Pincushion Bed and Breakfast and it's four guest rooms overlooking the trails, is a favorite destination of hikers. The 25 km (15 miles) of Pincushion Mountain's trails offers 11 loops with vistas of Lake Superior's North Shore, the Devil Track River Valley and woods of birch, aspen and pine. Bird lovers can use the trail system to view the common birds of the area's boreal forest. The Pincushion trail connects with the 200 mile long Superior Hiking Trail. The Superior Hiking Trail has been ranked as one of the Top 10 trails in the United States by Backpacker Magazine. Thanks to the B&B's trail side location, Pincushion often hosts lodge to lodge hikers spending nights at different lodges and inns along the Superior Hiking Trail.

Wildlife and Nature

The Superior Hiking and the Pincushion Mountain Trails affords you the opportunity to observe wildlife in a natural setting. There is an abundance of moose, deer, black bear and timber wolf. Hawk migration can be observed in the fall season. Wildflowers start in late May and raspberries, thimbleberries, blueberries are plentiful in July and August. Fall colors begin in Mid September with the maples turning red. The rest of the forest peaks about the 3rd week of September and continues till about October 10 at the B&B, but up till mid October along the North Shore next to Lake Superior.
